Terrorist Supporter Gets 144 Months in Jail

Police say Jubair Ahmed provided propaganda material to a Pakistani terrorist organization

A resident of Woodbridge, Va. was sentenced on Friday to 144 months in prison for providing material support to Lashkar-e-Tayyiba (LeT), a designated foreign terrorist organization.

According to court documents, 24-year-old Jubair Ahmad was born and raised in Pakistan, where he attended LeT training camps as a young adult and came to the United States in 2007 with his family after receiving a visa.

Ahmed pled guilty on December 2, 2011 and admitted that on September 25, 2010, he completed the LeT propaganda video he was asked to produce by a member of LeT.

Police say Ahmed uploaded the video to a YouTube account and sent a message to another person overseas the next day, explaining a leader from LeT group asked him to prepare the video.

“Mr. Ahmad directly supported the mission of a designated terrorist organization through his creation of online propaganda, fundraising, and recruitment efforts.  He is now being held accountable for those actions,” said Assistant Director in Charge McJunkin.  “The FBI will continue to pursue those who provide material support to terrorist groups, whether online or in person, and ensure that they are brought to justice.”

A forensic examination by the FBI confirmed Ahmed produced the LeT video on his computer.

Ahmed faces 144 months in prison, followed by five years supervised release.
