Suspicious Package Cleared at Air and Space Museum

The Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum was evacuated Wednesday afternoon after a suspicious package was found on the second floor of the museum.

The building was evacuated at 12:45 p.m. after the package was found in one of the museum's galleries near an uncounscious person, who is receiving medical treatment.

Streets on both sides of the museum were closed, the Associated Press reported.

The package was investigated and cleared and the museum reopened to visitors about 3 p.m.
