82-Year-Old Woman's Car Taken in Home Invasion

Man broke in through window

Residents in a quiet Virginia community are on edge after an elderly woman was robbed.

Someone broke into the 82-year-old woman’s home on Russell Road in the Alexandria section of Fairfax County Sunday night and stole her phone and car, police said.

The woman was watching television in bed when a window was smashed and she saw a man crawling through it, police said. He grabbed the woman and forced her into another room and demanded money. The woman complied and the man disabled her home telephone and took her cell phone and car keys. He fled in her gray 1989 Pontiac Firebird, which was found in the Beacon Hill area Wednesday.

The woman was not injured during the robbery.
