7th Suspect Charged in Murder at Woodley Park Metro

A seventh suspect has been charged in the fatal stabbing of an 18-year-old Montgomery County man at the Woodley Park Metro station.

Greg Whittaker, 19, of Hyattsville, Md., was indicted Wednesday on felony murder and other charges.

Prosecutors say he was part of the group responsible for Olijawon Griffin's death last November. The group is accused of robbing Griffin in Adams Morgan and then stabbing him to death when he tried to get his belongings back.

Six other teens -- all ages 16 and 17 -- have been charged as adults in the case.

Chavez Myers, 17, was charged last month with first-degree premeditated murder. The others are charged with felony murder (participating in a felony in which a murder was committed).

Prosecutors say that on the night of Nov. 16, the group made plans to rob people of iPhones and other valuable items. They allegedly attacked Griffin near a gas station in the 1800 block of Adams Mill Road in Adams Morgan, and stole his jacket and iPhone.

Griffin and two friends followed the group and confronted them in the Woodley Park Metro station, and a fight ensued.

Prosecutors say Myers snuck up on Griffin on the mezzanine level and stabbed him in the heart.
