7 More Charged With Prostitution in D.C.

57 men now charged in ongoing prostitution crackdown

Seven more arrests have been made in an ongoing crackdown on prostitution in and around D.C.'s Trinidad neighborhood.

Including the latest arrests, 57 arrests have been made since the “prostitution enforcement operation” launched on July 14, the Metropolitan Police Department’s Human Trafficking Unit said in a statement.

The seven arrests were made overnight Thursday and Friday. All men in these cases have been charged with solicitation of prostitution, police said.

In the operation's first week, officers arrested 41 men. The operation is continuing.

Along with the added enforcement operation, D.C. Councilman Jack Evans introduced a measure that would require police to tow and impound a car when officers have probable cause to suspect it's been used by someone trying to pick up a prostitute.

The intent is to deter would-be johns because they would be embarrassed to lose their vehicle, Evans said, calling the measure "Honey, I lost the car.''
