6-Year-Old Drowns in Waldorf, Md.

A 6-year-old boy drowned just 100 yards from his home while playing with friends in Waldorf, Md., Sunday afternoon.

Police say the boy, identified as Jayden Michael Williams, was playing with friends on a 2-foot wide retaining wall near Drake Court just after 2 p.m., when he accidentally fell into the water.

His friends went for help, and a member of the Charles County Dive and Rescue team pulled Williams, a first-grader, from the water a short time later.

He was transported to Charles Regional Medical Center, but died a short time later.

Williams was a first grade student at C. Paul Barnhart Elementary School.
