Fourth of July Forecast: Severe Thunderstorm Warning in Md.

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Montgomery, Howard, and Frederick counties in Maryland until 6:45 p.m.

A storm is moving through the area that could produce 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-sized hail. Damaging winds could cause some trees and large branches to fall.

Rain could dampen your cookout, but it should be dry in time for fireworks, Storm Team4 meteorologist Chuck Bell said.

Rain is likely between 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tuesday, Bell said. The slow-moving storms could wreak havoc on afternoon cookouts. The wet weather should move out of the area just in time for most fireworks displays.

Bell said plan for a hot and humid afternoon, with temperatures in the low 90s.

Cooler temps will move into the area Wednesday and Thursday. Thunderstorms are possible both days.
