40-Plus Years for Man in 2009 Loudoun County Murder

A man was sentenced two life sentences with all but 43 years and five months suspended for the death of 57-year-old William Bennett in Loudoun County, Va.

After serving the 43 years and 5 months, Darwin Bowman will be placed on 10 years of supervised probation.

Bennett and his wife were assaulted as they went for a walk in their Lansdowne neighborhood in 2009. Cynthia Bennett was almost killed in the attack. Investigators said they were picked at random and robbery was likely the motive.

A Virginia teen will spend the rest of his life in prison for attacking a Loudoun County couple and killing one of them.

Jaime Ayala was previously sentenced to life in prison plus 40 years for his role in the attack.
