4-Year-Old Found in Stafford Pool Has Died

The child was declared dead on Tuesday

A 4-year-old boy pulled from a pool at a Northern Virginia gated community has died.

The boy, Rico Rivera-Brayshaw of Stafford, Virginia, was declared dead Tuesday.

He was found in the community pool at the Aquia Harbour subdivision in Stafford on Sunday by patrons of the pool. Lifeguards attempted CPR before paramedics arrived and took the boy to a nearby hospital.

"There are a lot of people suffering with the family," Aquia Harbour Police Chief Patricia Harman said in a statement released Thursday. "The adults and children at the pool that day, the lifeguards who performed CPR and kept him alive long enough to give him a fighting chance and of course any of you with young children and grandchildren."

A GoFundMe campaign has been started to support his family.
