Prince William County police arrested four women and two men Tuesday in connection with the fatal stabbing of 18-year-old varsity football player Kenny Diaz over the weekend in Woodbridge, Va., including 19-year-old Diandra Janae Samuels, who is charged with murder.

A passerby found Diaz bleeding from an apparent stab wound to the stomach about 3:15 p.m. Saturday near a footpath at the Marumsco Acre Lake Neighborhood Park and called 911. Diaz, a senior at Woodbridge Senior High School, died at a local hospital.

Detectives linked the stabbing to an unreported armed robbery of a friend of Diaz Sept. 12 in Woodbridge, police said.

Diaz was part of group that confronted Samuels at her home in the 14300 block of Bellona Drive Saturday afternoon, police said. During the confrontation between two groups of people, one of Samuels’s friends, 26-year-old Dominic Glenn Smith of Woodbridge, pistol-whipped one of Diaz's friends, News4 Washington's Pat Collins reported.

One of Diaz's friends took Smith's gun, at which point the crowd dispersed, but Diaz couldn’t get away, police said. Samuels assaulted him and, with the help of friends, forced him into a car and drove him to the park, where Samuels stabbed him, police said.

Everyone involved knew each other through drug dealings, police said.

Samuels was charged with murder, aggravated malicious wounding, abduction, armed robbery and the use of a firearm during the commission of a felony. Smith was charged with abduction and possession of a firearm. Four other friends of Samuels, all of Woodbridge, were charged with abduction: Deneen Antoinette Williams, 29; Renee Claytor Caples, 22; Teena Marie Gerbozy, 24; and Gregory Allan Bonds, 22.

Williams's husband, Miguel Ortiz, told Collins his wife is innocent and was only arrested because she knows Samuels.

The suspects are being held without bond. A court date was set for Dec. 2.

A funeral mass for Diaz, who played for Woodbridge High’s varsity football team, is scheduled for Friday afternoon at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church in Woodbridge.
