4 Tips for Consumers to Protect Themselves

Before you contact us, here are four things you can do to protect yourself:

  1. Do your research. Before making a large purchase or using a new business, look for reviews. Do a quick Google search and check out what consumers are saying about the company on social media.
  2. Pay with a credit card when you can. If something goes wrong and the business refuses to work with you, you can file a claim with your credit card company.
  3. If a problem arises, try to work with the company. Ask to speak to a manager or the owner. Be sure you're communicating with someone who can help resolve the issue.
  4. Keep records. If you end up needing to contact NBC4 Responds, it will help your case to have everything documented. Save emails, write down dates, times and names associated with any phone calls, and of course, keep any receipts and paperwork.
