Health officials have designated four D.C.-area hospitals as Ebola treatment centers.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services included the National Institutes of Health Clinical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, MedStar Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C., Children's National Medical Center in Washington, D.C., and George Washington University Hospital in Washington, D.C. on a list Tuesday of 35 designated hospitals across the country.
Nina Pham, a Dallas nurse who contracted the Ebola virus, was successfully treated at NIH back in October.
Others designated hospitals are clustered in metropolitan areas like New York City and San Francisco. Two hospitals located in Charlottesville and Richmond, Virginia, also made the list, as did two in Baltimore. Click here for the full list.
The 35 hospitals are deemed to have the staff, equipment and training to safely and effectively care for Ebola.
West Africa is currently suffering the worst Ebola outbreak in history, with more than 15,900 illnesses and at least 5,700 deaths. Four cases have been diagnosed in the United States.
The 35 hospitals with Ebola treatment centers to date are:
