3 Kids Hurt on Popular Ocean City Roller Coaster

Officials blame the accident on a mechanical problem on The Tidal Wave roller coaster.

A popular amusement park ride in Ocean City, Md., was shut down after three children were hurt while riding it.

A mechanical problem may have caused the accident on the Tidal Wave roller coaster at Trimper's Rides Thursday night, officials said.

Paramedics took three children between the ages of 10 and 15 to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.

The park remains open but the roller coaster is closed for inspection. An amusement park ride safety inspector with Maryland Department of Labor and Licensing will take a closer look at the ride.

The double-look boomerang roller coaster is the most popular ride at the park, according to Trimper’s website.
