Police: Man Who Robbed 3 Montgomery County Banks in 15 Minutes Arrested

Montgomery County police have arrested a man they say managed to rob three banks within the span of about 15 minutes on Thursday.

All three robberies happened between 11:20 a.m and 11:35 a.m.

The first bank robbery was reported at the SunTrust located at 8510 Connecticut Ave. in Chevy Chase. Minutes later, police were called to a Capitol One location on Connecticut Avenue in Kensington. The second bank is just under three miles from the first robbery.

At 11:35 a.m., the BB&T bank on University Boulevard West in Wheaton was also robbed.

The suspect was arrested two hours after the robberies in Prince George's County, News4's Pat Collins reports.

A Prince George's County police officer leaving a restaurant in Glenarden spotted a Toyota Corolla matching the description of the suspect's car and moments later, detectives had the suspect in custody, police said.

Police believe all three robberies were committed by the suspect and it is likely he also robbed a bank in New Carollton earlier in the day. He has not been identified at this time.

"I'm not sure what to make of it right now," Montgomery County police officer Rick Goodale told Collins before the arrest.

The man was not wearing a mask or gloves and in some cases wears sunglasses and a sport coat, authorities said.

Investigators did not say whether the suspect got away with any money.
