Some students in Maryland got an early start on their weekend after their schools closed early Friday.

Steven Knolls School in Wheaton and Oakland Terrace Elementary School in Silver Spring are closed due to a water main break in the area. A school spokesperson said some student did arrive at both school Friday morning, but their parents picked them up.

The water main break happened at around 8:45 a.m. on McCommas Avenue. WSSC crews are on the scene and say repairs to the break will take four to six hours to complete.

Arundel Middle School in Odenton, Md., closed at 11 a.m. Friday due to a power outage. There's no word on when power will be restored to the school.
