3 Armed Men, 3 Failed Carjackings

Three attempts in short time in Clinton

Three armed men attempted three carjackings in less than 20 minutes in Prince George’s County Thursday night.

The men first commandeered a Toyota in the 9200 block of Stewart Lane in Clinton, Md., at 11:23 p.m. The getaway was almost clean, but the gas tank was almost empty. Running on vapors, the Toyota stopped at Allentown Road and Branch Avenue and the armed men fled on foot.

At 11:30 p.m. in the 6300 block of Old Branch Avenue, the men allegedly attempted to steal a Jeep from a man, but as they approached them, he announced that he was a police officer and they better leave him alone.

“My bad,” one of the armed men said, and they left the man alone.

They gave it another try at the Hangar Club on Branch Avenue at 11:37 p.m. A woman in a Dodge Charger was making a purchase through a drive through window when men approached on both sides with guns drawn. They managed to get one door open, but the woman hit the gas and sped away.
