2nd Arrest Made in College Park Robbery

Police said they have made progress in their investigation of an armed robbery near the University of Maryland campus.

A second man -- Andrew Hillocks, 21 -- was arrested Monday in connection with a crime that took place on August 8.

The robbery is just one of a half dozen such crimes in the last few weeks. Some but not all of the victims have been students. Police say it is unclear if any of the robberies are connected.

Last week, 19-year-old Chendor Jah was arrested for his alleged role in the August 8 robbery. Police are still looking for a third suspect in that crime.

Investigators say the men used a credit card stolen from one of their victims to buy items at a convenience store. Police say surveillance tape from the store has helped identify the men responsible.

Students at the University of Maryland have received several safety alerts in recent weeks following a string of robberies. There have been six such crimes since August 8. It is unclear if some of the crimes are related.

The most recent robbery happened early Sunday morning in the parking lot of the College Park Shopping Center.

In some of the cases, the suspects have been armed with guns. In other cases they have beaten their victims before robbing them.
