26-Year-Old Man Boards Virginia School Bus, Steals From School Cafeteria, Police Say

"He was described as young-looking and was considered a student," the school told parents

A 26-year-old man boarded a school bus in Stafford County, managed to blend in with high school students entering the school and stole food from the cafeteria, authorities say.

The man, who the Stafford County Sheriff's Office did not immediately name, was arrested Thursday at Stafford High School, in the Fredericksburg area.

On the fourth day of the school year, the man stood near a school bus stop and flagged down a bus Thursday morning, the sheriff's office said.

"He was described as young-looking and was considered a student," the school told parents in a letter sent Friday.

The man walked into the school with students, went to the cafeteria and grabbed food without paying for it, police said.

A staff member told the school resource officer, and the man was "removed," the letter to parents said. The man was unarmed and never threatened students or staff, the letter said.

Superintendent Scott Kizner asked students and staff to be alert and report anything suspicious.
