20-Month-Old Death Determined a Homicide

Medical examiner says cause of death was blunt impact trauma

A 20-month-old child, Kayontae Osbia Moore of Southeast D.C., died on Monday morning at the Children’s Hospital. The office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled the death a homicide.

Police responded to a call to United Medical Center on Monday morning for a disorderly in progress. The unit’s call later changed to ‘investigate the trouble for an unknown emergency.’

According to police, a private vehicle had transported the baby from the 3000 block of 30th Street Southeast to United Medical Center. The child was found to be in critical condition, and was immediately taken to Children’s Hospital.  Shortly after arriving at the hospital, the child was pronounced dead.

The office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined the cause of death to be blunt impact trauma and ruled the death a homicide.

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Special Victims Unit are still investigating this case, and ask anyone with information about this case to call the Metropolitan Police Department.
