Two Stafford County schools were briefly locked down Monday morning after a deputy got into an altercation with a suspicious person in a school parking lot.

Initial reports suggested that the person had a weapon, so North Stafford High School and Park Ridge Elementary School were placed on lockdown while officials searched for the person, who fled after the altercation.

Officials found the person at about 9:45 a.m. and the schools were reopened.  The sheriff's office said no weapon was found.
