2 Motorcyclists Killed in Crashes in Prince William County

Separate fatal crashes over the weekend

Two motorcyclists were killed in separate crashes on the same road over the weekend, according to Prince William County police.

The first collision occurred on Joplin Road at Park Headquarters Road in Triangle about 10 a.m. Saturday, police spokesman Officer Jonathan Perok said. Motorcyclist Christopher Lee Capo, 34, of Dumfries, collided with a vehicle driven by a 17-year-old who was trying to make a U-turn, police said. Capo was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The second fatal crash occurred on Joplin Road near Arden Road in Manassas about 7 p.m. Sunday. A motorcycle crossed the double yellow line and crashed into a vehicle in oncoming traffic, police said. The man driving that motorcycle, 22-year-old Darren Mitchell Kirby,of Stafford, also was pronounced dead at the scene.

Speed and alcohol are not believed to be factors in either crash.
