2 Men Fatally Shot in Southeast Washington

District of Columbia police are investigating two fatal shootings, including one that claimed the life of an 18-year-old man.

Police say Shaun Simmons, 18, was fatally shot around 4:20 a.m. Saturday in the Congress Heights neighborhood of southeast Washington.

An hour earlier, police say Michael Toland, 22, was brought to a hospital with an apparent gunshot wound. He died there. Police say he was also shot in southeast Washington.

No suspects have been identified in either slaying. Like many major cities, the nation's capital has seen an increase in violent crime this year.
