A bicyclist crashed into a man and woman in their 70s, knocking them down and injuring them, police said.

The pair were walking down the south alley of the 600 block of Massachusetts Avenue in northwest D.C. Friday morning when they were hit by the bike, police said. Both were knocked to the ground and police said the man in a gray hooded sweatshirt and dark pants on a BMX-style bike did not stop. He was last seen headed south toward I Street NW.

Both pedestrians were taken to a local hospital. Police said the man was admitted in critical condition.

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department's major crash investigations unit are investigating.
