Police in Prince William County are investigating two separate fatal accidents which took place early Sunday morning.

Investigators say a man was struck by a car while crossing Lee Highway near the intersection of Old Carolina Road in Gainesville shortly before 6 a.m. The man, 19-year-old Damien Charles Banks, later died of his injuries. The 36-year-old driver stayed at the scene. Speed is not considered a factor.

In the other accident, motorcyclist Randy Allen Lane, 56,  was traveling on Bristow Road near the intersection of Independent Hill Drive in Brentsville when he lost control of the bike, ran off the roadway and struck a tree, police said. It's unknown when the accident happened. A passing driver noticed it after sunrise.

Lane was pronounced dead at the scene. Speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the accident, police said.

The investigations into both incidents is ongoing.
