D.C.-Area Theaters Plan to Show ‘Interview'

At least three area theaters have announced that they plan to show "The Interview" when it opens Thursday.

West End Cinema in Northwest D.C. and One Loudoun, part of the Alamo Drafthouse, in Asburn, Va., have both confirmed that they will show the film.

West End will have a 2:30 p.m. showing on Christmas Day, but One Loudoun would not comment on possible showtimes.

The announcement is not listed on either theater's website.

Manassas 4 Cinemas on Mathis Avenue in Manassas, Virginia has confirmed on its Facebook page it'll screen "The Interview" several times on Christmas Day.

Sony confirmed Tuesday that the controversial film would have limited release across the United States beginning Dec. 25.

"We have never given up on releasing 'The Interview' and we're excited our movie will be in a number of theaters on Christmas Day," Michael Lynton, chairman and CEO of Sony Entertainment, said in a statement. "At the same time, we are continuing our efforts to secure more platforms and more theaters so that this movie reaches the largest possible audience."

Sony announced last week it had called off the scheduled Christmas release of the North Korea satire which depicts the assassination of dictator Kim Jong Un following hacker threats of violence against theaters showing the film.

Seth Rogan, one of the movie's stars, responded to Sony's decision on Twitter.
