D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier announced two additional arrests linked to the beating of a man near Eastern Market.
The chief made the announcement Thursday on WTOP's "Ask the Chief" program.
Lanier said the two men arrested, along with three others already in custody, are suspected in at least nine attacks in recent months. She said different members of the group would go out together at different times to commit violent robberies.
One of the victims, Thomas Maslin, has been recovering in the hospital since August. Police found him unconscious on a porch near Eastern Market after he'd been attacked walking home from a Nationals game.
Maslin is now blind in one eye and has had to undergo several surgeries.
Lanier said overall police are focusing on robbery suspects who cause injury to their victims.
