Reminiscent of Stephen King character Andrew Dufresne’s rock hammer hidden in a Bible in “The Shawshank Redemption,” a man and woman allegedly tried to smuggle drugs into jail by hiding them in a Bible, police said.

Important difference: The man and woman got caught.

Investigators seized the Bible and found the drugs at the Amherst, Va., jail last week, the Associated Press reported.

Amherst County Sheriff's officials said 27-year-old Milton Ray “Scooter” Branham and 25-year-old Tamisha Nicole Hart, of Arrington, were arrested and charged with willfully conspiring to deliver a controlled substance to a confined prisoner.

Branham is being held without bond because he was already in jail when he was charged.

Hart was released on bond.
