17 Va. Co-Workers Share $250,000 Lottery Jackpot

Seventeen co-workers in Bland County are making plans to spend money after they won a $250,000 Mega Millions payout.

The workers at a manufacturing company bought a ticket for the Sept. 18 drawing. Their ticket matched the first five numbers, but missed the Mega Ball number.

Todd Akers tells media outlets that he and his co-workers have been playing the lottery together for about six or seven years. Akers usually buys the tickets but he says he was ill. This time, his father bought the tickets.

Akers says some co-workers want to use their share of the money to do things with their grandchildren. Others plan to take vacations. Some just want to pay off their cars or houses.

Akers says one person is buying an engagement ring.
