A man was fatally shot in the head around 1:40 p.m. Tuesday in the 5100 block of 7th Street NE.
Homicide detectives arrived on the scene to find the victim unconscious and not breathing. The victim's age and the motive for the shooting are unknown at this time.
The shooting happened about a half-mile from the Fort Totten Metro station.
