Prince George's police are investigating the murder of a 16-year-old boy at midnight Sunday.

Police were called to the 7700 block of Webster Lane Sunday for a shooting. When they arrived, they found Marcus Antonio Jones, of the 800 block of Swan Creek Road East in Fort Washington, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

Jones was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police said a preliminary investigation revealed that Jones had walked to a car after leaving a home on Webster Lane. As he approached, an unknown suspect shot Jones and ran away.

Detectives are following up on substantial leads, and are working to identify a suspect and motive in this case, according to a press release from the Prince George's County Police Department.
