Two Arrests in Manassas Teen's Murder

Police continue searching for details in an after-school fatality

Manassas City Police have arrested two suspects for the murder of an Osbourn High School student, who was stabbed to death.

Police say 15-year-old Miguel Hernandez was walking home from school on Friday,  along a popular shortcut path with friends, when a group of males attacked him for no apparent reason.

On Saturday, officers arrested Mauricio Martinez, 18, of Manassas along with a 17-year-old male from Fairfax. Both are charged with murder and gang participation.

Sgt. Tim Neumann said officers arrived on the scene and found the Hernandez suffering from a knife wound. He was flown to Inova Fairfax Hospital, where he died a short time later.

Police say this is still an ongoing investigation and add that more arrests could be possible. Anyone with information about the attack is asked to call the confidential 24-hour Crime Solvers line at 703-330-0330.

A $1,000 reward is being offered in the case.
