15 Displaced After Fire Damages 4 Townhomes

Fifteen people are without a home after a fire tore through four townhomes in Manassas Wednesday morning.

Firefighters were called to the 9800 block of Maury Lane overnight. When they arrived, they found heavy fire coming from the rear of two townhomes. The fire spread to two additional townhomes before fighters got it under control.

Two firefighters were trapped on the second-floor of one of the townhomes for a short time, but they eventually got out of the home OK.

"They were able to get out over a ground ladder. They were searching for a missing occupant who ended up not being home," said Fire Rescue Chief Brett Bowman.

No injuries were reported.

Bowman said 15 people were displaced by the fire. The Red Cross is helping the displaced residents.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
