Fourteenth Street Bridge was closed for about an hour Thursday afternoon as a bomb squad inspected suspicious packages later determined to have fallen off a truck.
The packages were spotted early Thursday afternoon, and a bomb squad closed traffic in both directions, causing major congestion in D.C. and Virginia, starting about 12:30 p.m.
Officials also closed 14th Street SW from Indiana Avenue SW to C Street SW, and Maine Avenue from 12th to 15th streets SW.
The packages were determined to not be hazardous, and the all-clear was given about 1:30 p.m.
