Dump truck involved in fatal crash

One person died in a collision with a dump truck in Manassas, Va., Tuesday afternoon.

Several vehicles were involved in the crash about 2:30 p.m. on Lee Highway near Sudley Road.

According to the preliminary investigation, the driver of the southbound dump truck crossed into the northbound lanes and struck the rear panel of a pickup truck. The dump truck driver apparently overcorrected into the southbound lanes and back into the northbound lanes, striking an SUV head on.

The driver of the SUV died at the scene. His identity has not been revealed.

It's unknown if speed or alcohol factored in the collision.
