13-Year-Old Boy Accused of Stealing a Car

A 13-year-old boy has been arrested for allegedly stealing a car Wednesday, according to Howard County and Maryland State police.

The boy, a resident of Maryland Sheriff’s Youth Ranch in Frederick, stole the car from the ranch, according to a release from the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office.

Maryland Sheriff’s Youth Ranch reported the stolen car, according to police. Police then located the car traveling northbound on Maryland Route 355 around Spectrum Drive in Frederick. Police said they conducted an unsuccessful traffic stop and the boy continued onto Interstate 70 East.

After the pursuit continued into Howard County, the car was finally stopped after deploying stop sticks on Interstate 70, according to police.

The boy, who is also charged with multiple traffic violations, is currently being held in a Rockville children’s center, said police.
