12 Years After Police Escape, Woman Arrested in Loudoun County

Carolyn Macy escaped from police in February 2000

A woman who escaped from police custody in California more than 12 years ago has been located in Loudoun County, police said Thursday.

Carolyn Macy began what should have  been a three-year sentence for fraud and identity theft charges on May 25, 1999.

Instead, police say, she escaped from a Los Angeles facility in February 2000 shortly after being transferred there from a state prison in Santa Clara County, Calif.

The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office learned last week that Macy, now 67, was living at Leisure World in Lansdowne, Va. They arrested Macy at her home Oct. 26.

She is being held without bond at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center. She will be extradited to California.
