Graffiti in a girls' bathroom indicated a bomb would explode at the school

A 12-year-old girl has been charged after for allegedly making a bomb threat at Mattawoman Middle School in Waldorf.

On Tuesday, a school resource officer was alerted to graffiti in a girls' bathroom that indicated a bomb would explode at the school the following day.

School had already been dismissed for the afternoon. Authorities identified the girl as a suspect via security camera footage.

She was charged as a juvenile with making threats of arson and destruction of property.

The school was searched and determined it to be safe.
