Missing Silver Spring Sisters Found Safe, Police Say

Montgomery County police say two sisters who were missing for nearly a week have been found safe.

Kandyce Matos, 11, and Karmen Matos, 16, were last seen at their home at 11p.m. Aug. 4. When their parents went into their bedroom the next day to check on them, they could not find them.

Their father said he believed they ran away, but he wasn't sure why they left their eyeglasses.

"They left with nothing," Ramon Matos, the girls' father said, "They've got nothing with them. They got no money, no clothes, nothing."

The girls' father said it appeared Karmen Matos deleted her Instagram account shortly after they left.

On Friday, police said the girls had been found safe. No further details were released.
