Hundreds of Bikers Crossing Maryland, Virginia for 9-11 Event

Group is spending Friday night near the Pentagon

Hundreds of motorcycles are traveling across parts of western Maryland and northern Virginia as part of a Sept. 11 anniversary event.

They left Shanksville, Pennsylvania, Friday morning after visiting the spot where one of the four jetliners hijacked by terrorists crashed in 2001. Friday's route includes parts of interstates 68 and 70, U.S. 15 and the Dulles Greenway.

The group is spending Friday night near the Pentagon, where another jetliner crashed.

After visiting the Pentagon Saturday, the ride will continue up Interstate 95 to New York City. It ends Sunday at the World Trade Center memorial to victims of the two jetliners that crashed there.

The commemorative ride is organized by America's 911 Foundation to support emergency responders and honor victims of the attacks.
