$1 Million Winning Lottery Tickets Sold at Area Stores

The powerball jackpot represents the largest prize won by a single ticket in the lottery's history.

Two D.C.-area gas stations sold $1 million winning Powerball tickets after a historic lottery.

The numbers drawn were 6, 7, 16, 23, 26. The Powerball was 4.

A Parkway Express gas station near I-95 and Fairfax County Parkway in Lorton, Virginia sold one of the million-dollar winning tickets.

Gaithersburg, Maryland houses another million-dollar ticket vendor. The Potomac Shell gas station, located at Quince Orchard Road and Darnestown Road, sold one of only 34 tickets that won $1 million nationwide.

The winners have not yet been identified. Maryland Lottery officials recommend the winners sign their tickets and keep them in a safe place until they can be redeemed.

The $758.7 million Powerball jackpot was sold in Massachusetts, and is the largest jackpot won by a single person in lottery history, according to the Maryland lottery authority.

Prime Mart in Sterling, Virginia, Food Lion in Woodbridge, Virginia, Wheaton Winery in Silver Spring, Maryland, and Slide In Mart in Glen Burnie each sold a ticket worth $50,000.

The Virginia Powerball generated about $16.8 million in profits, all of which are required by law to support Virginia schools., according to the Virginia lottery website.
