1 Killed In Anne Arundel Crash

Stopped car hit by Ford truck on Baltimore Beltway

One person is dead as the result of a two-car crash that took place on Interstate 695 in Anne Arundel County early Saturday morning.

Investigators say that a 2000 Saturn SL was stopped in one of the eastbound lanes of the highway at the intersection with Maryland Route 2 (Exit 3A) at around 2:30 a.m. That's when, police say, a 2003 Ford F250 struck the Saturn while attempting to avoid it.

The driver of the Saturn, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Ford, 31-year-old Steven Patrick Celey, was taken to Baltimore Washington Medical Center, where he was given a blood test.

I-695 eastbound was closed for approximately five hours while the accident was investigated and the roadway was cleaned up.

At this time, no decision has been made about pressing charges against Celey.
