A man was killed after his car struck a pole and overturned in in Montgomery County early Thursday.

He has been identified as Kenneth James Lovelett, 58.

Police responded to the scene in the 20200 block of Darnestown Road in Beallsville around 4 a.m. after another driver discovered the collision.

Authorities say Lovelett was driving a 2002 Pontiac Sunfire east on Darnestown Road when his car crossed the center line, traveled into the westbound lane and left the road before hitting a utility pole and overturning. The car came to rest at the entrance of Woodstock Equestrian Park.

Lovelett, the only occupant of the car, was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the car, authorities said.

Authorities said around 10:30 a.m. Thursday that Route 28 had reopened, but utility work to the pole was still underway.
