Prayers and well-wishes for Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan flooded in Monday afternoon after the lawmaker announced he has been diagnosed with an advanced, aggressive form of cancer.
Hogan, 59, said at a press conference Monday that he was diagnosed days ago with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.
Lawmakers from across the metropolitan region offered these words of support, some using #HoganStrong:
Prince George's County State's Attorney Angela Alsobrooks: "My thoughts and prayers, and the prayers of the Prince George's County State's Attorney's Office are with Governor Hogan as he begins this battle with cancer. It is a disease that has personally touched me and my family, as my mom is a five-year cancer survivor. I understand the difficult road ahead, but I also know that Governor Hogan is bold and he is a fighter. The people of this great county stand behind this native Prince Georgian and his family in this difficult hour, and we pray for a speedy recovery."
Maryland House Speaker Michael E. Busch: "My thoughts and prayers are with Governor Hogan and his family today as he embarks on this fight against cancer. We are fortunate in Maryland to have access to the finest medical system in the country, so I am confident that Governor Hogan will get the best quality medical treatment possible. I know that he will bring the same tenacity and strength to this new personal challenge as he has to all of his professional accomplishments."
Maryland Rep. John K. Delaney: "April and I send our prayers to Governor Hogan and his whole family. We pray that he has a speedy and full recovery as he begins treatment. All Marylanders are in his corner."
Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe: "I have reached out to Governor Hogan upon hearing his diagnosis of stage 3 non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Dorothy and I are deeply saddened by this recent news, he and his family are in our prayers as we wish the Governor a speedy recovery."
