Woman Arrested in Maryland Acid Attack

It was a nasty attack, but now a suspect is in custody.

On March 29, 2010, around 7 p.m., a patrol officer working in the 1100 block of Kennebec Street was flagged down by a woman suffering from burns to her face. The victim told the officer that she had been walking through the parking lot, holding her 3-year-old child, when she was assaulted by a woman who splashed a chemical on her face, according to Prince George's County police.

Both the woman and child were immediately transported to a hospital. The woman had chemical burns over her face, thigh, neck and both of her eyes, police said. The child suffered chemical burns to her head and cheek.

Fast forward to this week.

Detectives arrested 29-year-old Tikia Shauntice Anderson, of Greenbelt, Md., and charged her with two counts both of first- and second-degree assault and two counts of reckless endangerment.
