WASHINGTON -- Almost 3,000 protesters marched through D.C. streets Tuesday to show their opposition to Israel's airstrike in the Gaza Strip.
Activists first gathered in front of the State Department and then marched on Constitution Avenue and throughout downtown D.C. They waved Palestinian flags, held signs that read "Stop U.S. Aid to Israel" and yelled, "Free, free Palestine!"
The rally was organized in part by the D.C.-based Act Now to Stop War & End Racism Coalition. It was one of several demonstrations held Tuesday in about 28 states and 12 countries in opposition to the airstrike.
