Swine flu seems to be getting in everybody’s way, and now it could ratchet up the fever in the Virginia governor’s race.

A massive swine flu vaccination clinic set for Saturday could jam up parking at the government center, one of the busiest places to cast in-person absentee ballots in Fairfax County, Va.

“We will have our staff posted outside. We’ll have signage up and so we hope to make the process for them as smooth as possible but  we want them to be aware that there is a possibility for a little bit of delay,” said Edgardo Cortes, Fairfax County Registrar.

As many as 10,000 children and pregnant women could turn up for Saturday’s vaccination clinic. That could frustrate people who might show up to vote, forcing them to cancel their plans. County officials are reminding people there are seven satellite-voting locations they can use if they want to avoid Saturday’s swine flu frenzy.

The seven satellite-voting locations are open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday. They include: Franconia Governmental Center, Mason Governmental Center, McLean Governmental Center, Mount Vernon Governmental Center, North County Governmental Center, Sully District Governmental Center, West Springfield Governmental Center.
