Police Union Blasts Lanier's Snowball Slam

Lanier called the anti-snowball officer's actions "totally inappropriate"

The head of the D.C. police union is decrying the police chief's public criticism of a detective for pulling a gun during a snowball fight.

Videos of the plainclothes officer holding a gun and telling people he pulled the weapon after getting hit by snowballs circulated widely on the Internet after the Saturday confrontation.

On Monday, D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier called the officer's actions "totally inappropriate." Baylor is currently assigned to desk duty.

Union chief Kristopher Baumann said today it's questionable whether Det. Michael Baylor will get a fair and unbiased investigation by the department. Baumann said Lanier should wait for the investigation to close before passing judgment.

The mass snowball fight was advertised on Twitter and other social media during a record snowfall.
