Police Probe D.C's First Homicide of 2011

The double shooting Sunday afternoon in northwest D.C. is being investigated as a homicide after one of the victims died Sunday evening. It is the first homicide in the District in 2011.

The shootings happened at the intersection of Fourth Street and New Hampshire Avenue in the Sherman Circle area of Northwest.

Investigators said two teens were shot on the side of the road. The teen who was listed in critical condition died. The other remains hospitalized.

Police said the name of the deceased is Bryant Morillo, of Hyattsville, Md.

The double shooting was not the only violent incident in D.C. that day. Four people were injured early Sunday morning in the 1300 block of Congress Street in Southeast. Investigators said four adult men were sitting in a van when someone opened fire on them. Three of the victims were taken to a nearby hospital.

No arrests have been made in either incident. These two separate shootings make for a particularly violent start to 2011.
