“Plumber” Pissing Off Virginia Restaurants

Suspect sought in several cases of urinal vandalism

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- A man apparently trying to create dirty work for himself by terrorizing urinals is public enemy to No. 1 at several Virginia restaurants.

Police identified Timothy Banks, 39, of Fort Washington, Md., as the man allegedly breaking urinals and then offering to repair them for a fee.

An employee at the Cracker Barrel in the 1900 block of Carl D. Silver Parkway reported a damaged urinal in the men's room Friday afternoon, according to the Fredericksburg Police Department. A suspect was seen fleeing in a gold Chrysler with Maryland plates. He was then seen going into Cheeseburger in Paradise, where a manager told police a man damaged a urinal and fled just before officers arrived.

Damaged urinals also were reported at Bone Fish Grill, Smokey Bones and Ryan's Steak House around the same time, according to police. Managers at each said a man in a lime green polo shirt told them of the damage and offered to repair them for a fee. The managers declined his service.

The manager at Carlos O'Kelly's took a man up on his offer to repair a broken loo, but apparently the man isn't a plumbing whiz. The urinal remained out-of-service after the failed repairs.

Arrest warrants for Banks charge him with seven felony counts of vandalism and three felony counts of attempting to obtain money by false pretenses. Banks remains at large.
