A four-car crash on Fairfax County Parkway Saturday has left four children without parents.
The family was in a Honda Pilot driving in the northbound lane when a Toyota Corolla, also going in the same direction, hit them. Police said both cars lost control and ended up on the opposite side of the road, where they were hit by a silver BMW and a red Toyota pick-up truck.
The crash killed Michael K. Merrill, 47, and Jeanne M. Merrill, 42, of 7404 Rocky Ravine Rd. of Fairfax Station. Three of their four children, ages 13, 3, and 1, were taken to Inova Fairfax Hospital with non-life threatening injuries and have since been released. A fourth child, 9, was staying with friends and was not in the car at the time of the crash. The children are currently in the custody of relatives.
The driver of the pick-up truck suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital. No one else suffered serious injuries, police said.
There is also no word on whether anyone will be charged in this crash. The investigation is ongoing.
